Adventure, Character & Community

Cub Scouting is a family-oriented program designed for boys and girls in kindergarten through fifth grade. It emphasizes outdoor activities, character and leadership development, and community service. We create a fun welcoming place where families explore together, build confidence and make lasting memories.

Fun with Purpose

From pack meetings and pinewood derby races to hikes and camping trips, our scouts learn by doing and discover new skills every step of the way.

Powered by Families

Cub Scouting is a family journey. Parents and guardians are expected to participate, volunteer. When families lead, support, and show up together, Scouts get the best Cub Scouting experience.

ACTIVITIES

Pack 1138 Program

We offer hands-on activities and exciting adventures throughout the year.

Our Scouts participate in a variety of fun, educational, and team-building experiences designed to build character, encourage leadership, and inspire a love of the outdoors. From camping trips and Pinewood Derby races to community service projects and science experiments, there's something for every Scout to explore and enjoy.

Camping

Our Cub Scout pack goes on two fun-filled camping trips each year—one in the fall and one in the spring—offering outdoor adventures and unforgettable memories for the whole family.

Hiking

Our Cub Scout pack enjoys regular hikes throughout the year, giving Scouts a chance to explore nature, stay active, and build outdoor skills. Hiking is a fun way for Scouts and families to connect with the outdoors and each other.

Fundraising

Currently, Pack 1138's main source of fundraising is through popcorn sales. These can be completed through store front sales (organized through pack and popcorn kernel), wagon sales (door to door sales), and online sales (share your Cub Scouts personal link with family and friends). Our Popcorn Kernel helps set up our yearly popcorn sales. Popcorn sales normally take place between August and December.

Blue & Gold

The Blue & Gold Banquet is our annual celebration of Cub Scouting and the anniversary of Boy Scouts of America. Held in February, it's a special evening where families come together to enjoy food, fun, and recognize the achievements of our Scouts.

Pinewood Derby

The Pinewood Derby is a beloved Cub Scout tradition where Scouts design, build, and race their own wooden cars. Usually held in conjunction with the Blue & Gold Banquet this usually takes place February; it's a fun event that encourages creativity, sportsmanship, and friendly competition for Scouts and their families.

Service Projects

Our Cub Scout pack actively participates in service projects throughout the year, helping our Scouts give back to the community and learn the value of helping others. From food drives to park cleanups, service is an important part of our Scouting Experience.

Pack 1138 is part of the Lone Star District of the Sam Houston Area Council and is proudly chartered by Grace United Methodist Church in the Houston Heights. Although our pack primarily serves Field, Harvard, Love, and Travis Elementary schools, we warmly welcome Scouts from throughout the greater Houston area.
